Covenant is a fundamental Biblical Concept. It is the way our relationships with God, with the rest of the natural world, and within social and religious groups are understood. This colloquium will reflect on various covenants found within the Bible: the covenant between God and the natural world (Genesis 9), the covenant between God and the family of Abraham (Genesis 15 and 17), the covenant between God and the people of Israel (Exodus 20), and the covenantal relationship known as the reign of God (New Testament).
Recognizing the spiritual director as a facilitator of a covenantal relationship between God and the directee, we hope to discover foundations, parallels and insights for accompanying and supporting directees in their attempt to be faithful.
