Dominican Center’s Summer Directed Retreat

Charlotte Hoefer , OP, an Adrian Dominican Sister, founded the Dominican Center in 1980. She was the Director of the for 23 years and during that time was engaged in teaching and supervising in the Internship in Spiritual Direction Program.

Sister Charlotte has a BA in Latin from Siena Heights University, Adrian, MI and a MA in Latin from The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. She also holds an MA in Spiritual Direction and an MDiv in Spirituality from Weston Jesuit School of Theology, Cambridge, MA. While at Weston she completed the Practicum in Spiritual Direction at the Center for Religious Development, Cambridge, MA.

Carol Johannes , OP, an Adrian Dominican Sister, joined the DCRD staff in 1987 and had been involved in the ministry of spiritual direction and as faculty and supervisor in the Internship Program at the Dominican Center for Religious Development until 2005. She continues to minister as a spiritual director and retreat director and also is involved in adult faith formation experiences in several parishes in the area.

She holds an MA in English from the University of Notre Dame, Master of Divinity and Master of Theology in Spiritual Direction from Weston School of Theology in Cambridge, MA. While at Weston, she completed the Practicum in Spiritual Direction at the Center for Religious Development, Cambridge, MA.

Rev. Vic Clore, PhD, has been a parish priest in Detroit since 1966, always serving in racially integrating city parishes. Rev. Clore is the Pastor, Christ the King Parish, Northwest Detroit. His pastoral specialty is blending Sacred Scripture and Human Psychology.

Fr. Clore has a PhD in Developmental Psychology and an STL in Systematic Theology; He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Detroit Mercy and Sacred Heart Major Seminary.

Faith Offman is a 2002 Graduate of the Dominican Center Internship Program in Spiritual Direction and joined the Dominican Center staff in 2009 involved in the ministry of spiritual direction and continues as faculty and supervisor in the current Internship Program. She ministers at St. Paul of the Cross Passionist Retreat Center as Associate Director of Ministry where she is part of the Retreat Team and leads Days of Reflection, provides Spiritual Direction and leads directed retreats.

Faith holds an Associate of Arts in Ministry from Sacred Heart Major Seminary; a BA from Sienna Heights University and a Masters of Divinity from SS Cyril and Methodius Seminary. Faith is married to Steve, they have two children and five grandchildren.

Rev. Anita Smith Buckwalter is a 2002 Graduate of the Dominican Center Internship Program in Spiritual Direction where she has served as faculty and supervisor since 2005. Rev. Anita Smith Buckwalter has served 40 years as a pastor, spiritual director and retreat leader.

Anita holds a B.S. in Education, an M.S. in Guidance and Counseling and a certificate in massage therapy. She has attended numerous seminars in humanistic psychology, Transactional Analysis, family systems, conflict resolution, the Enneagram, preaching and feminist theology. Anita is a widow who resides in Lansing near her two children and five grandchildren.
